Grow Bags for Small Spaces & Bad Soil

This spring, I'm planting potatoes and Jerusalem artichokes in grow bags. Here's why you might want to consider adding grow bags to your own yard:

* If your soil is lousy, it doesn't matter! Fill the grow bags with potting soil.

* Not sure where you have full sun? You can move grow bags around (although once they are full of soil, it may take some muscle).

* They are generally less expensive than store bought, large pots. Most grow bags also do a better job of draining water than ordinary pots.

* If you grow vegetables that require digging to harvest (like potatoes), the bag saves you digging. Just turn the bag over and dump everything out.

UPDATE 2/26/13: My experience with grow bags has been excellent. My Jerusalem artichokes are abundant (and don't take over the rest of the garden). And you can click here to read about my experience growing potatoes in grow bags.

Have you ever used grow bags? What did you plant in them?
